Recommended Hardware to Install a License Plate on the Low Profile RV Tail Light Part # RVSTLB61

Question:

What type of hardware should be used to mount license plate to the RVSTLB61 tail light. I tried the typical nylon but the opening was too narrow so when I tightened the bolt it twisted and broke out the narrow part of the bracket. Im not sure a bolt and flat washer is the way to go either since the bracket has a raised edge at the bottom but not at the top. I have already broken one mount and ordered the replacement from etrailer. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There is not really any specific mounting hardware to attach a license plate to the Low Profile RV Tail Light part # RVSTLB61. However, I recommend using either a 3/16" or 1/4" phillips head machine screw with lock washer and nut which can be obtained at your local hardware store. The bolts just needs to be tight enough to collapse the lock washer. If you are having issues with the tabs breaking I recommend installing the license plate on the light while it is off the trailer. Also if you are in a cold climate that will also contribute to the chance of the tabs breaking upon installation so it might be better to do this inside where it is warm.
