Recommended Battery Charger for Trailer Battery

Question:

I am having a tear camper trailer built, and would like to add a CTEK battery charger so that my trailers battery will charge while we are towing. I see different CTEK battery chargers, of considerably different prices. Which CTEK charger would we need? Our builder would be installing the CTEK on the trailer. We drive a Subaru Outback 2.5i.

The right battery charger depends on the type of battery you have and its capacity, as well as what you want the charger to do. If you have a 12V lead-acid battery that is rated for between 14 and 150 amp hours I recommend checking out the CTEK MULTI US 7002 12-Volt Universal Battery Charger w/ Pulse Maintenance and Backup Power # CTEK56353.

This is a very good charger that will not only charge your battery but will maintain the charge and just as important, will not overcharge it. The reason this matters is that not only will an overcharged battery can overheat, reducing its overall life and potentially causing it to catch fire.
