Question:

If i have the Rola vortex basket already mounted on my cross bars, will these still be able to mount through the basket and on to the cross bars. additionally, if they will mount with the basket in place, will the fishing rack be high enough that you can still put fishing rods in and not hit the top of the front or back lip of the basket? i have a 2012 4 runner trail. thanks!!

The Rhino-Rack Fishing Rod Carrier part # RR574F cannot be installed when using the Thule Roof Cargo Basket part # TH859XT. You would need to either use one or the other because they install in the same space on the crossbar. Unfortunately, we do not have a way for you attach your fishing poles to the Thule Roof Cargo Basket so it would be best to remove it and use the Rhino-Rack Fishing Rod Carrier as needed.

I have another potential solution. How long are your fishing rods? I have another Thule enclosed Rooftop Cargo box that has an interior length of 82-3/4 inches. Would this hold your rods. If so, we would need to check some measurements. To use this cargo box, your crossbars would have to be 3-5/16" wide x 1-1/2" tall or less AND they would need to be between 23-5/ inches and 35-3/4 inches apart.
