The Surco Universal Exterior RV Ladder # SP502L referenced in your question features brackets that secure the top of the ladder to your roof. These brackets can swivel up and down to allow it to mount securely to different roof contours so you actually shouldn't need to cut any of the hooko tubing for it to install correctly.
This universal aluminum ladder has an overall length of 84-1/2 inches and a weight capacity of 250 pounds.
