Question:

I want to set up my 2007 JK Jeep Sahara Unlimited, standard trans. With transfer case, to tow with my motorhome. This is currently with a factory bumper but also considering changing to an aftermarket bumper so I can mount my 12K winch. Ones I am considering are usually made of 5/32 steel. Like both the Blue Ox and Roadmaster hitches. Expect to tow around the US at 65 mph. Can you give me best choices for both types of bumpers. Also, may purchase new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited in next ten years so prefer to use as much as possible of towing rig for both vehicles.

If you are referring to a base plate kit for your 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with the standard front bumper then I recommend the Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit part # 1429-3. This kit has removable arms for a clean look while not in tow and it will not require a bulky crossbar like most other base plate kits. For a tow bar that will work with this kit, I recommend the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain Tow Bar part # RM-522. This towbar has non-binding arms which makes it easy to connect and disconnect the tow vehicle on unlevel ground.

I have attached a photo of what the base plate kit will look like once installed and a video of the towbar for you as well. Please note that the base plate kits we offer are only tested on factory front bumpers. I would not be able to confirm fitment on a non factory front bumper. We also have adapters like part # RM-035-1 and part # RM-035 which allow for the d-rings to be used (if equipped) but the bumper must be rated for this purpose.
