How Does Extension Rod Kit fit onto Valterra Waste Valve?

Question:
My kitchen tank will not discharge. For starters, how does the rod connect to the valve? Might the rod have become disconnected? Or, if valve is stuck in closed position, what might cause this?

It's unlikely the rod became disconnected and I would not be able to determine what would cause a valve to get stuck in the closed position as that is uncommon. If you are having trouble reaching your waste valve handle or need a new one then the Extension Rod Kit for Valterra Waste Valve # T1046-10VP simply threads onto your waste valve shaft. It is adjustable from 10" to 12" to make accessing your valve easier.
