Which wire is the cold on the BLS for 2012 chevy equinox

When installing a brake controller in your 2012 Chevy Equinox you will need to access the stoplight circuit from the BCM (Body Control Module) and not the brake switch. It is located under the dash above where your left knee would be.
The BCM has several wiring harnesses running to it. The one you need will be black with 26 slots. You will need the wire that is in position 11. It will likely be a white wire. You can use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993
to test the wire to make sure.
