Question:
Is the flange width, that which extends 3inch out from the actual box width? I am measuring 7foot 2inch from flange to flange on my slide out. The actual box width is 78inch so would I need an 84inch or a 90inch awning?

When picking out a Slide-Topper like the Solera # LCV000165062 that you referenced, you will just want to measure the box width on your slide-out. This is the length on the outside front of the box, including the flange. I have attached a sample installation video so you can see exactly how this is measured.
If you measured a box width with the flange of 7 feet, 2 inches (86 inches) then you will want a 96 inch Slide-Topper like # LCV000168106 in Black or # LCV000163288 in White. This is because you want the fabric to extend at least 2-1/2 inches beyond each side of the box width. This is confirmed to work with box widths of 86 to 91-3/4 inches.
I have attached the installation instructions that you can also check out.
