I thought in edge CS to programmer. I do not want to mounted on the - I was wondering if I could program it and then unplug it. 2017 Chevy Silverado 2500

The Edge Diesel Evolution CTS3 Performance Tuner - 5" Color Touch Screen with Swipe # EP69YR is not a fit for your 2017 Chevy Silverado 2500.
For your application, I recommend the Edge EvoHT2 Hand-Held Performance Tuner - GM - Gas/Diesel # EP26040 which will give you performance upgrades of up to 21 horsepower and up to 30 foot-lbs of torque if you have the 6.0L V8.
If you have the 6.6L V8 Diesel, then I recommend the Superchips Dashpaq Performance Tuner - 2.4" Color Screen - Diesel - GM # SU2050.
With either of these options you can program it and then unplug it. The settings will stay with your vehicle and the tuner will remain paired to your vehicle until you reset your vehicle back to factory specs.
