The Thule DockGlide kayak carrier # TH896 does indeed fit the 2014 BMW X1 with factory roof rack that includes crossbars that run side to side.
If your X1 does not have a roof rack that includes crossbars then you will first need to add one to use the kayak carrier. Rhino-Rack has a great option that will work. It consists of Vortex bars # RRVA126B-2 and legs # RRSX033 that will clamp onto the factory side rails that run front to back.
