Question:
At what temperatures should I set the alerts for transmission fluid, engine oil, coolant, exhaust, etc. on my 2006 LBZ? Thank you

Expert Reply:
200-225 degrees is a very common range for the Allison transmission of your 2006 Chevy Silverado with the LBZ diesel engine. Above that I'd be concerned so setting at 225 would be a good idea.
If you have quality engine oil in your truck I'd only start getting concerned around 270 degrees. For the coolant it's normaly to see 230 to 240 in warm weather towing so that's where I'd put the alarm for that. Now GM rates that motors at 1,375 degrees continous use so anything above that I'd be worried. You'll need an EGT gauge with the part # EP85300 too. For that you'd want the # EP98620.
