The MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat - Manual Lift - 10 Speed - White # MA00-05100K has a dimension of 5 inches from the roof to the highest part of the vent when closed. I measured the underside of the overhanging portion for you and it is 5/8 inch from the flat roof when closed to still allow air movement at the mounting flange and tapers down closer to the roof at the end.
