There are Class I, II and III hitches available for the 2004 Dodge Caravan. Draw-Tite offers a Class III Hitch part # 75119, and also a Class II part # 36296.

Regardless of which hitch is used, the Grand Caravan is limited to a maximum of 2000 lb towing / 200 lb tongue weight. Although the Class III hitch is rated for 3500 lb towing and 350 lb of tongue weight, the manufacturers maximum tow ratings should not be exceeded. I typically recommend choosing the Class III receiver, because the more common 2 inch receiver opening offers more flexibility in choosing hitch mounted accessories like a cargo carrier or bike rack.

The draw bar needed will depend on the class of hitch that is used. For a Class III hitch, use part # 2723. For a Class II, use part # 36071. For a Class I, use part # 3593.

The trailer ball needed will also depend on the hitch class. For a 1-7/8 inch ball for a Class III, use part # 19620, or for a 2 inch ball, use part # 19247. For a 1-7/8 inch ball for a Class I or II hitch use part # 19256 or for a 2 inch ball use part # 19258.
