Replacement Trailer Tire Recommendation for a Komfort Travel Trailer with 235/80-16 Tires

Updated 09/07/2011 | Published 09/04/2011

Question:

I have a 33 Komfort Travel Trailer dual axle loaded about 10,000 lbs. I want the best tire available. Is this the tire? I hear bad things on trailer tires. Have Trail Americas now. No complaints just want the best. 235/80/R 16. Cost not issue want best rated possible.

If you need a 235/80-16 tire then you will need # AM10248. This is a load range E tire rated for 3,197 pounds at 90 psi.

The tire you have referenced, # AM10295, is a 235/85-16. It could potentially fit though it would be about 1/2 inch taller. If you have clearance around the tire for a larger size you could use it.

The trailer tires we carry are good tires and we have not had any significant issues with them. The important thing to remember is to always inflate a trailer tire to the maximum psi indicated on the tire. Because trailer tires have a thicker side wall than passenger car tires, under inflating them would cause excessive heat build up in the side wall and lead to tire failure. I have included a link to our tire FAQ article for you.
