How do you secure the hook to the chain?

The Curt S-Hook for Safety Chains # C81840 is not actually secured to the chain, it will attach to the chain and stay on due to the force of the chain links pulling; I have added a photo of this hook with dimensions so you can see if it will work for you.
Another option is to use a different type of hook, the Curt Hook with Spring Loaded Safety Latch # C81277 which you may be more comfortable using if you want something that secures to a chain.
