European 7 Way Round Pin to US 7 Way Blade Adapter Recommendation

Question:

I am assigned in Germany for the next 3 years in the Army and need to somehow convert the 7 Way Blade on my 2017 Honda Pilot so it can be connected to a 7 Way European Pin trailer harness the harness actually has both a 7 and a 13 pin plug with it, but I thought it would be easier to find something for the 7 pin. I havent found a straightforward way to accomplish this without removing the harness installed on my vehicle which I dont want to do as Im only here for a few years. I have a lightboard for a bike rack that allows the license plate to be mounted and backlights it, and has the turn signals/brake lights mounted as well. You have to have something like this in Europe if the bikes obscure the brake lights and license plate. So, Im looking for a harness/adaptor/converter that I can use for the lightboard and we would also like to rent a camper occasionally while here as well that we would need to have the ability to connect. Any suggestions? Thanks!

The European 7-Way does the same thing that the US 4-Way does. There isn't an adapter available because the European 7-Way has separate circuits for nearly every function on each side of the trailer. The US style 4 or 7-Way has combined brake lights and turn signals.

What you will have to do create an adapter. You will need 1 European style vehicle side 7-Way and one special converter that separates the combined signals to separate ones and a US 7-way socket.

You will need to make an adapter using a US 7-way like part # H20044 and a locally sources Euro 7-way. Using a circuit tester such as # PTW2993, identify the left turn signal/brake light wire and the right turn/brake light wire. The left side wire will connect to the yellow input wire on converter # 118158. The right turn/brake light wire connects to the green input wire. White is ground on this converter. The running light wire will bypass the converter.

On the output side of the converter red will be brake lights only, green will be right turn only, and yellow will be left turn only. Wire up the new European vehicle side 7-Way accordingly. On the trailer side, you may have to run jumper wires for the running lights since the vehicle side will only have one running light wire.
