What is the Offset and Backspacing of Dexstar 8x7 Inch Trailer Wheel with 4 on 4 Bolt Pattern

Updated 08/24/2011 | Published 08/22/2011

Question:

Hi, I had a question regarding item number AM20021 the 8 rim. Can you tell me the rear spacing of the rim? My current 8 rim 7 bead to bead has a 2.5 back space and 5.5 offset in the front. Most rims Ive found seem to be 3.5 in the rear and 3.5 in the front no offset. Can you tell me what these rims are? Thanks

First, I can tell you that we carry few rims that have an offset. If it did have an offset it would be listed so it looks like the Dexstar Wheel, # AM20021, has a zero offset.

Given that it has a zero offset the total width of the rim is 8 inches (7 inches bead to bead plus a 1/2 inch on each side for the lip). That would make the backspacing 4 inches (distance from rim lip to mounting surface).

I went out to the warehouse and pulled one of these wheels to be sure. It did have a backspacing of 4 inches on both sides.

The only other 8 inch by 7 inch wheel we have is # AM20023. It has the same measurements. The only difference is it is galvanized.
