Recommended Roof Rack for 2018 Audi Q5 with Panoramic Sunroof

Question:

I have similar question as of “Difference Between Rhino-Rack Vortex And Thule Aeroblade Roof Racks” for my vehicle: 2018 Audi Q5. Since I read Thule isn’t confirmed to fit, Will Rhino fit? Even if it fits, will it hinder the panoramic sunroof operate properly?

The excellent Thule WingBar Evo Roof Rack, which consists of # TH711220 for the two 47 inch WingBar Load Bars, # TH710601 for the Foot Pack, and # TH186045 for the Fit Kit, is actually confirmed to fit your 2018 Audi Q5. While the roof rack will install without issue with the Audi's panoramic sunroof, it is not recommend to operate the sunroof with the crossbars attached. This is really the case with any roof rack system.

This is especially true if you have any mounted accessories like a cargo box that use mounting hardware that clamps around crossbars, as the hardware might interfere with the sunroof. Even with extremely quiet roof racks like this one, there would also be a lot of wind noise with the sunroof open that may not be desirable.

I recommend simply removing the crossbars before operating the sunroof to ensure that there won't be any interference.
