Question:
Can these safety chains be shortened by removing one of the hooks? Can the hooks be removed without cutting the chain ?

If you were to remove a hook from # C19749 the chains would be shorter. The only way to remove a hook, other than cutting the chain, would be to bend the "eye" end (where the chain connects to the hook) so you could then slide the chain off the long way. You couldn't go the short way because the keeper is riveted on. Are you looking for a specific chain length?
