Trailer Running Lights Lit All the Time w/Curt Trailer Wiring Harness Installed in 2013 Ford Focus

Question:
I have a 2013 Ford Focus Titanium Sedan. I ordered and have installed the Curt wiring Harness C56138 which is recommended for my car. I installed it exactly as described/shown in your video. The brake lights, turn signal lights all work, however the parking lights are lit all the time. As soon as the plug is connected they light up. This happens even if the car is not running. Any ideas on thus issue or have you heard of this issue before. Thank you.

Does your trailer happen to have LED lights? If so then what is happening is the little bit of power that is on wiring harness # C56138 is enough to dimly light up LED lights. This is because the wiring harness is a powered harness and LED lights draw such little power. We hear about this issue less with the Tekonsha harness # 118548.
It is also possible that there is a short drawing power. Make sure the trailer connectors are clean and free of corrosion. Also check the wiring on the trailer from the connector back to the running lights. If there are any pinched or damaged wires that are exposed that could be causing a short.
