Troubleshooting the Tenkosha Prodigy RF Brake Controller on 2014 VW Touareg

Question:
I have a 2014 VW Touareg. Initially everything connected and I receive a .c. message from the handheld device. The TV and trailer lights all work. However in a minute or two I get a dashboard error that I have a taillight out. The rapid clicking of the Left hand turn signal accompanies the dashboard light. Inspecting the trailer lights also shows the left turn light/ brake light not working. After disconnecting the trailer the tv symptoms continue. After shutting down the tv and after 15 minutes restarting the problem has gone away. No more error on dash and left hand light working. What is happening? tv = tow vehicle

Expert Reply:
Your 2014 VW Touareg has lamp-out sensors which can cause problems when trying to install the Prodigy RF 90250. Using the Trailer Connector Adapter w/ Lamp-Out Sensor Bypass # 20142 should remedy the problem because it will increase the draw on the system which won't result in an error being shown on your Touareg.
