Is a Rooftop Cargo Box Available for 50 Spread Between Crossbars on 2003 VW Eurovan?

Question:

Id like to purchase a roof cargo box. My particular application is for a 2003 Eurovan with roof racks. Rack crossbars are 50inch apart, and cannot be moved. Which box accomodates a 50inch spread for crossbars? If none, which could be modified to do so? Thank you.

There is a solution for you, although a rooftop cargo box will not work with a roof rack that has crossbars with a 50" spread, and there are no bars available for your 2003 VW Eurovan which can be modified to do so.

What I recommend is the Yakima MegaWarrior Extra Large Roof Rack Cargo Basket and Extension # Y07080-82 which mounts to Yakima, Thule and most factory crossbars via its universal attachment system. This cargo basket also will work with crossbar spreads up to 60", so it is a fit on top of your Eurovan. The MegaWarrior is 74" long x 48" wide x 6-1/2" tall and has a 130 lb weight capacity.

With it you will need a bag such as the Rightline Gear Sport 2 # RL100S20 which is 44" long x 36" wide x 14" tall at the front and 19" tall at the back, has 15' of storage capacity and secures to the basket with mounting straps.
