Hello. We camp a lot and are looking to get more room inside our sedan. We have a 2012 vw passat and the manual says no roof racks of any kind I spoke with a a few members at your place that claim some of the employees are using etraileer stuff on their passats. will my 2012 5 cyl vw passat be able to handle the weight of this? Thoughts?

We have to defer to the owners manual. Using a roof rack on your Passat could void your warranty when the owners manual does not allow for it.
With that being said there are confirmed fits from 5 of our manufacturers for roof racks on the 4-door with no existing rails or crossbars. We do have people that purchase them and use them both as employees and customers.
Another really popular option is the Thule rack comprised of # TH711420, # TH710501, # TH145185 and locks # TH450400. This gives you aero bars with the channels on top for accessories. This system is rated for 110 lb capacity.
