Why Doesn't Curt Hitch # C11140 Fit 2006 Saab 9-3 Sedan

Updated 04/06/2018 | Published 04/04/2018

Question:

Recently I purchased your trailer hitch for my 2006 Saab 93 aero. Dual exhaust. hitch Item # C 11140. Im a mechanic of 10 years so I know what Im doing when it comes to fabrication and aftermarket items. I cut out the panel and fitted the hitch up there, Got the 2 hardware bolts started in the bumper section. As for the other 2 bolts that go into the trunk pan threads, the holes for the bolts are far off. I will send you the pictures when you reply to my Gmail account. I Followed instructions as described. And seen that this is no way fitting to my vehicle. I do own a sedan but they are identical to the sport combi chassis, except the sport combi is obviously a wagon in design. Its almost the right fitment except the rear holes dont align with trunk pan. I could easily hack it up to make it fit with cutting the right amount out and welding it back together however this kit is supposed to easily fit from what your instructions indicate. Is there a defect to this hitch making it too long allowing the holes to not align. I disassemble it and wanted to see if I stared it from the trunk pan how. Much room would be left in the bumper section. About 3/4 of an inch is what Im off. Please respond to sort this out. I have good pics indicating whats going on and need this resolved Thanks!

I'll take a look at the pictures and can forward them to Curt, but I know what Curt is going to say. They will state that you are trying to install a hitch designed for the wagon version of the 2006 Saab 9-3 (the SportCombi) and you have a sedan which calls for the hitch # C11326.

Is there a reason you didn't want to go with the # C11326? Our hitch manufacturers will avoid making a new hitch part number at all costs if they can have one hitch fit several vehicles. In your situation they wouldn't have made a new hitch for the wagon or sedan model if they absolutely didn't have to regardless of if the vehicles seem to be the same.
