Question:

We are looking to buy a fifth wheel trailer and the aeller is talking about having the right height clearance for trailer. What fifth wheel attachment would be needed for proper towing? Ive seen sliding ones and regular. Does height of truck make a difference?

For fifth wheel towing height clearance you want at least 6 inches between the bed rails and the trailer overhang while the trailer sits level to avoid bed rail interference on elevation changes. Now what I suspect you are really interested in is turning clearance since you have a short bed truck and they typicallyneed a slider hitch to allow the trailer to slide without hitting the nose of it to the cab of the truck.

So for a slider hitch that would work well we have the Reese part # RP30051 which will fit your truck bed with the correct custom rail kit part # 50043-6008. Custom install rail kits are the way to go as they minimize install time and drilling on the vehicle.
