Question:
I have a 2008 BMW X5 with a tow package. It has an Oris part no 0102,1035,001. Type E428. I need a brake controller for an rpod that I want to tow to a camping location. Do you know of the tow package is ore wired for a brake controller or what the easiest brake controller would be to get for this set up?

Expert Reply:
If your X5 has a factory-installed 7-way trailer connector then I recommend the Curt Echo Trailer Brake Controller # C51180, which simply gets plugged into the 7-Way itself and pairs to your smart phone via Bluetooth. This eliminates the need to splice into any factory wiring on the BMW and doesn't require a separate item to be mounted inside the vehicle, since your phone is what's used to adjust any settings or activate the manual override.
I have attached a demonstration video below that you can check out as well.
