Troubleshooting Tekonsha ZCI Item # 119250KIT Installation On 2016 Porsche Cayenne
Published 02/28/2018 >
Question:
I'm having an issue setting this up on a 2016 Porsche Cayenne. Using the tester, I was able to locate 3 separate wires for the Tail, Brake, and Turn to install the sensors in a B type mode. Unfortunately I get some crazy response from the trailer lights. Everything works great up until I turn on the running lights and try to use the turn signal. Then all lights flash alternating from turn to running lights. My question is should this be set up as a BTT connection as I remember on wire of the 10 going to the tail lights will light up with all 3 and another that lights up with 2 - brake and turn. I plan to try different configurations later but wanted to know if you know exactly what configuration should be used for the Cayenne to save me some time. Thanks!

I contacted the tech support of the manufacturer for some ideas and your are on the right track.
Your 2016 Porsche Cayenne has dedicated wires for each function and also has wires that are multi-function. To get everything to work correctly with the Tekonsha ZCI Vehicle Wiring Harness, Item # 119250KIT, you will need to find dedicated wires for each function (tail, brake, turn, etc.). Unfortunately, there are no "shortcuts" and you will have to continue the "trial and error" testing that you are already doing.
Keep playing with the wiring configurations and I hope you find the right combination sooner rather than later!
I am attaching some additional information and an installation video on a 2015 BMW X5 that might give you some ideas.
