Question:
I know from reading your site that hitch extension cause a loss of tongue weight capacity, but does the 500-lb weight rating of this extending step drop when it is extended versus pushed halfway in?

Expert Reply:
The 500-lb weight capacity of the HitchMate Extendable Hitch-Mounted Step # HE4045 does not change when the step is extended to its maximum of 12-1/2-inches. It will support that substantial weight at any position you need to use it.
