In order to flat tow your 2012 Nissan Frontier with all four wheels on the ground, you will need a base plate kit, a tow bar, safety cables, tow bar wiring, and a supplemental braking system. I did take a look at the online owner's manual for your Frontier to see if there are any flat towing restrictions. It does state that the manual transmission, two-wheel drive models can be flat towed, but you should stay below 60 mph and not exceed 500 miles on a trip. I recommend verifying this information in your copy of the owners manual along with taking a look at the recommended procedures that are outlined.
Starting with the base plates, I recommend the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit # 344-1B. These base plates are custom-fit for your Frontier and feature a hidden bracket design for a nice clean look when you're not towing.
For a compatible tow bar, I really like the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain # RM-522. This tow bar has a non-binding design that will allow you to release your vehicle at any time, even on unlevel ground. The extra-long telescoping arms will also provide better maneuverability and easier towing. It has a weight capacity of 6,000 pounds. For the necessary safety cables, you can use the Roadmaster # RM-643.
Then for tow bar wiring, I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This diode kit lets you wire your Frontier to accept the RV's tail, brake, and turn signals for flat towing. It includes a 6-Way plug that will install in front of the Frontier, and enough coiled wire to go from there to the 7-Way on your RV.
For a supplemental braking system, I highly recommend the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR. This is an excellent, proportional system that will physically press down on the brake pedal inside your Nissan Frontier at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to it in your RV.
Lastly, you will likely need a high-low adapter in order to keep your tow bar level. I have attached an article that explains exactly how to choose the best one for your setup, along with a link that will take you to our available selection. I have also included videos and instruction links for the products mentioned and an FAQ on flat towing that you might find helpful.
