Why Does Trailer Wiring for 2014 Hyundai Tucson Require Running Wire to Vehicle Battery

Question:
Hi, this looks like a good product, apart from the fact that it involves running a power line under your car, where it is exposed. I was wondering if you had a solution that does not involve doing that? I notice that there is a 12V power supply in the trunk 10A that could be tied into. I believe that this was what was done with my 2013 Forester. Running wires inside the car seems like a much better idea, but the none of the systems that you offer seem to do this. Have i missed something? Thanks,

Not all vehicles can handle the additional amperage draw of the trailer taillights on the vehicle taillight circuits. Those vehicles need setup that draws power from the battery. Some vehicles have higher rated circuits that can handle this, and others need to have the power drawn straight from the battery to protect the taillight circuits.
For your 2014 Hyundai Tucson you need to install a harness that draws power from the battery to protect the taillight circuits like the part # 118501 which I attached an install video for. That is why you have to run the power wire of the harness up to the battery. You can route it through the interior of the vehicle if you like but most people have good luck with routing it on the outside of the vehicle.
I attached a help article that covers this for you to check out as well.
