Derale Plate-Fin Engine Oil Cooler Kit # D15451 Recommendation for a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4

Published 07/01/2011

Question:

My 2011 Ram 1500 4X4 engine oil temp is running about 230F. degs. when pulling my 5K pound trailer. Will this cooler reduce the temp. to about 180f. degs and is there a temperature by-pass built into the system? My oil filter spin on connector is 22 X 1.5 MM. Does this kit have the correct size so that the block will screw on to the engine filter location without problem?

This Derale Plate-Fin Engine Oil Cooler Kit # D15451 that you referenced will lower the engine oil temperatures of your 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4. It is hard to say exactly how the temperature will decrease, but the more airflow the cooler will see the more the temperature will drop. If it would not drop to 180 degrees it would get pretty close.

This # D15451 that you referenced does not have a thermostatic bypass. I would recommend you get a Derale Plate-Fin Engine Oil Cooler Kit # D15405 as it does have a thermostatic bypass and it does have the right size fitting for your connector that is 22 x 1.5 mm on your Ram.

I attached an FAQ article on engine oil coolers for you to check out also.
