Since this opens from the front and the back, does the front lock?

Yes, the front portion of the TruXedo Deuce 2 Soft Tonneau Cover part # TX746901 can be locked in place to negate access. If you take a look at step 14 in the attached instructions manual, you can see the locking mechanism and how to activate it. There is a pinwheel knob located on the cab rail that holds a lever in place that will need to be positioned towards the driver's side to lock the cover or towards the passenger side to unlock the cover.
