Does Blue Ox Base Plate Kit BX1694 Require Frame Rail Modification to Install
Published 01/19/2018 >
Question:
I bought this Blue Ox BX1694 baseplate for my 2500 GMC Sierra Pickup. It looks like the correct kit but the with of the baseplate is 1/8inch wider than the inside of my chassis rail. 3-18inch baseplate width and chassis inside width is 3. Is this kit the right one or do I need to cut and grind?

Expert Reply:
The Blue Ox base plate kit part # BX1694 is a confirmed fit for your 2013 GMC Sierra. It should not require the modification you mentioned for it to install. Did your truck have tow hooks? This kit is designed as a fit for vehicles with tow hooks (they do get removed), if yours didn't have tow hooks from the factory the frame rail would be slightly different.
