Question:
I am looking at purchasing a new travel trailer and being new to camping wanted some advice on what weight distribution system I should be looking at. Specs on the trailer are TW 672 Dry weight 6000lbs with max weight at 7600. I am looking at pulling it with a 2017 F150 ecoboost 3:55 super crew. Thanks in advance for your response.

When choosing a weight distribution system, the most important factor to consider is the total tongue weight of your setup. This number will include both the loaded tongue weight of the trailer (as if you are loaded up and ready for a trip), along with any added cargo weight coming from behind the rear axle of your F-150. Ideally, you will want this number to fall somewhere near the middle of the operating range on the system you choose.
Using a tongue weight scale like the etrailer # e99044 is the most accurate method for determining your trailer's loaded tongue weight. We can also take an estimate using the 7,600 max trailer weight that you provided. A trailer's tongue weight should be 10 to 15 percent of its total weight, so we can estimate a loaded tongue weight on your trailer of around 760 to 1,140 pounds.
With this in mind, I recommend looking at the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System # RP66084. This is a great system that will evenly distribute weight over the axles of your trailer and F-150. It features self-adjusting, self-centering sway control that will hold your trailer steady even through crosswinds and sudden swerving. It has a tongue weight capacity range of 600 to 1,200 pounds. The only thing you will need to add is a compatible hitch ball like the 2 inch # A-90 or 2-5/16 inch # 19286.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this system, along with the written installation instructions that you can take a look at. I have also included an FAQ on weight distribution systems that you might find helpful.
