will a trailer hitch from a 2015 subaru Forrester fit a 2010 Subaru Forrester

Helpful Expert Reply:
A trailer hitch from a 2015 Subaru Forester will not fit a 2010 Subaru Forester. There was a change in the frame from 2013 to 2014 model years. For your 2010 Subaru Forester, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 13147.
If you will be towing with this receiver, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118467. This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your Subaru Forester's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area, either behind the driver's-side trim panel or in the spare tire compartment. You will need to remove some interior paneling to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, insert the provided fuse into the in-line fuse holder.
For a ball mount, the etrailer ball mount kit # 989900 is a great option. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. This will give you the options you need to tow trailers level. I've attached an article to assist.
