Can Timbren Rear Suspension be Used with Weight Distribution System on 2015 Nissan Armada

Published 01/04/2018

Question:

Im interested in stiffening the rear of my 2015 Nissan Armada as I use the hitch for a bike rack 4 bike tray, a motorcycle tray, and often have full loads for family road trips. I also use the Armada to pull a travel trailer 23 ft, about 4300 lbs and have a weight-distributing hitch that I use for that. Theres a comment in one of the QandAs below that a suspension enhancement like Timbren bumper and WD hitch shouldnt be used together - I wanted to confirm this recommendation. And if so, what would be recommended for stiffening rear end that would allow for use of WD hitch?

You can indeed use a suspension enhancement system, such as the Timbren # TNRARM that you referenced, along with a weight distribution system on your 2015 Nissan Armada. The reason we typically do not recommend both for towing applications, is simply because a properly rated weight distribution system should resolve rear sag by itself. Adding suspension enhancement is essentially redundant and may sometimes even work against a WD system.

With that being said, for your particular application that includes heavy bike carriers when you aren't towing, rear suspension enhancement is a great solution. The # TNRARM rubber springs mentioned above are confirmed to fit your Armada and will do a great job of increasing stability and leveling your vehicle when you are transporting your bikes. These will install directly onto the frame and no drilling is required. They can still be used when you are towing your trailer with a weight distribution system.

I have attached the complete installation instructions that you can also take a look at.
