Is it OK to tie down a Solera RV power patio awning to prevent wind damage?

As long as you are not compromising the integrity of the awning and you are not forcing the mechanical parts to work in ways they shouldn't I see no reason why tying down your awning would be a negative thing to help prevent wind damage.
