Question:

How much space is needed between top of stored item and mounting surface? I need to know how much clearance I’ll have from floor to stored cargo box.

I measured the pulleys and other components of the Thule MultiLift Cargo Lift and Storage System # TH572 in order to give you a good estimate of how much space there will be available under your cargo box once it is hoisted up.

From the ceiling mounting surface the pulley assemblies will extend down approximately 4-1/2-inches. So if you had a cargo box that was 1-foot tall, its bottom would extend down from the ceiling surface approximately 16-1/2-inches (4-1/2 + 12).
