Question:
I have a 2007 expedition and need to install a 7 blade plug. I read the answer on this page and found it very helpful since mine already has a 4-flat plug. The only difference on my vehicle is, I can’t see the orange wire coming from the car. There is a blue one all by itself, but the answer on the page I linked says to connect the black from the adapter to the orange on the vehicle. Any suggestions?

Since your 2007 Ford Expedition has the factory 4-Way connector at the rear of the vehicle, you will just need to install the Hopkins Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole # 37185 to complete the wiring and install a fully functional 7-Way.
Vehicle manufacturers will often change the wire colors on their factory trailer wiring, as appears to be the case on your Expedition. Because of this, I highly recommend testing the wires on your vehicle with a circuit tester like # PTW2993 in order to determine their functions. You can have a buddy run through each light function on the truck while you test the wires. The blue wire on the vehicle is most likely for the electric brakes.
On the Hopkins Adapter, the white wire is for ground, the blue wire is for brakes, the black wire is for the 12 volt power supply and the purple wire is auxilliary.
If you are still needing a trailer brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885. This is an excellent proportional controller that will activate the trailer brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your vehicle. You can then use the Plug-In Adapter # 3035-P to install the controller. One end of the adapter will connect to the controller itself while the other end connects to the built-in port beneath the dash in your Expedition.
