Recommended LED Trailer Lights for Boat Trailer that are Waterproof and Submersible

Published 11/30/2017

Question:

I have a E-Z loader boat trailer that I want to upgrade to LED lights. The light red lens measures 6x3.5. There is a black plastic piece on the inside of each light that is about 2inch wide. This plastic piece is separate from the red lens and has no function other than to fill space. What is the difference between waterproof and submersible? I want waterproof. What light should I get.

For the same 6 by 3-1/2 inch size in LED, I recommend the LED Trailer Tail Light - 7 Function - Submersible - 23 Diodes - Rectangle - Red Lens - Driver # STL57RB along with passenger # STL56RB.

If your trailer is over 80 inches wide, then I recommend the Wesbar LED Tail Light for Trailers Over 80" Wide - 7 Function - Submersible - Red Lens - Passenger # 271584-01 and Driver # 271585-01.

These lights combinations are both submersible which means they are completely sealed and no water can enter their housing. The terms waterproof and submersible are interchangeable. These are the lights you will want on a boat trailer. You will want to make sure all your wiring connections are also water tight, so if you are using butt connectors, you will want heat shrinking connectors like # DW05744-10 to seal water out.
