Question:
I wnt to add a external trans cooler to 2017 GMC sierra Denali 4wd 6.2L... The cooler is noit the problem, it is the thermostatic coupler gm use to keep trans temp t 195? i am assuming... so without knowing more about it and where it is i wont be able to get an effective cooler, if you know what i mean. I dont know if you can lower the temp of the device, or remove it or what? Looking for recommendations, fixes, suggestions, or even alternate brain training! haha

I spoke to my contact at Derale about adding a transmission cooler to your 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 6.2L V8 engine and they informed me that there should be no problem using one so long as you install it after the factory transmission cooler.
I cannot confirm what your truck was or was not equipped with but its sounds like you are referring to a bypass function that reroutes the transmission fluid from the cooler until it reaches a certain temperature. Unfortunately, there would be no way to adjust this temperature setting without the use of a custom tune. I would also not recommend removing the device from your vehicle (if equipped).
For your truck, I recommend using the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets part # D13504. As long as you have 11" wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep of space to mount the cooler in front of your radiator/condenser behind your grill then this cooler will work well for you. If the radiator on your truck has quick connect fittings then you will also want the Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting for GM part # D13035 but if your radiator has thread-in fittings then you will want the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for GM part # D13018.
I have attached a review video of the above cooler for you to check out as well.
