Carrying Surfboards on a 2017 Mini Clubman S Model

You have two options for the 2017 Mini Clubman S Model for roof mounted surfboard racks.

The first option is a targeted, single purpose use rack. For this, I recommend the SeaSucker Surfboard Carrier, part # 298-BX1806. This innovative rack series uses vacuum cup mounts to secure a rack temporarily to the roof of your vehicle, and is able to support 1 surf board. It's not recommended to carry two surfboards on one of these carriers as it can cause the mount to fail.

That being said, this option lets you completely avoid adding a roof rack to your vehicle, and doesn't modify the look of your Clubman S when you're not carrying the surfboards.

The rack includes straps to secure the surfboard to the carrier, so you're good to go out of the box. it can carry up to a 31 inch wide surfboard safely.

Your other option is to add a traditional roof rack to the vehicle. This lets you carry wider boards than the SeaSucker, but requires the full removal of the rack if you don't want it on the vehicle.

For surfboards, I tend to recommend people go with an aero-style crossbar, as the integrated wind diffuser strip and wider nature of the bars gives a more solid resting point for the boards.

For the 2017 Mini Clubman S, I recommend the Yakima JetStream kits, consisting of:

Your best option for a carrier is the Thule SUP and Surfboard Shuttle, part # TH811XT. This rack will let you carry two surfboards on the top of your vehicle and includes straps to tie down to the roof rack.
