How to Install Hatch Huggers on a Hatchback 2017 Kia Soul

Question:

2017 kia soul. you recommend SA3035 to replace the the side straps. l see how this will work on the upper straps. how would you secure this on the side of the the tailgate? hope this is not a dumb question but i do not see how to make it work

I reached out to Saris to see how they install Hatch Huggers, part # SA3035
They recommend the following steps:

1.) Put the Hatch Huggers inside the rear door with the straps vertical.
2.) Close the rear hatch.
3.) Shimmy the straps up to the side of the hatch near the install location.
4.) Install the Saris Bones rack per normal instructions, skipping the side straps.
5.) Feed the Hatch Hugger Straps into the side quick release mechanisms.
