Recommended Roof Rack with Short Crossbars for 2012 Jeep Liberty

Question:

Hi, Can these bars be shortened so they dont stick out as much past the side rails? It would be on a 2012 jeep liberty.

The Malone SteelTop Roof Rack # MPG201 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2012 Jeep Liberty. The square crossbars on this rack measure 50 inches long but they cannot be adjusted to prevent them from overhanging the edge of your vehicle.

For a shorter crossbar that will also provide a more OEM appearance on your Jeep, I highly recommend taking a look at the Yakima RailBar # Y00436-2. These low-profile crossbars will clamp right to the factory side rails and won't extend at all past the rails. The crossbars measure 40-1/2 inches long and 3-5/8 inches wide. They have a weight capacity of 165 pounds.
