Base Plates for 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Compatible with Sterling Tow Bar

Updated 09/19/2017 | Published 09/18/2017

Question:

I wish to tow a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited behind a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. I already own a 2003 Roadmaster Sterling tow bar, serial # 017091 with the QD base assembly 910021-00 and both passenger and driver side arm brace weldments attached. I need a mounting bracket kit for the Jeep and would like to confirm Kit# 1427-3 is compatible with this setup. I am also looking at the Roadmaster wiring Kit #RM-152-LED and the Roadmaster Brake light Relay Kit # RM-88400. The tow brake is the Smart Brake UTB 1000. Are there any other parts that I need, or that you would suggest to complete the installation. Thank you, Ray Lanier

Roadmaster Base Plate kit # 1427-1 is a correct fit for your 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited so long as it is NOT the SRT-8 version and does NOT have a brush guard installed. This is the best choice for use with your Sterling tow bar. Kit # 1427-3 does fit the truck but its safety chain anchor brackets will not work with the Sterling cables. This kit can be made to work but the Sterling's cable anchors must be attached to the frame of the vehicle or welded to the receiver portion of the bracket.

Roadmaster's bulb-and-socket type lighting kit # RM-152-LED is a confirmed fit. Replacement LED elements are available as part # RM-300066-10. A brake light relay is not required.
