For you 2017 Dodge Durango, i recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, # 90885. The P2 Brake Controller is a proportional brake controller, so it applies brake power to your trailer in proportion to the brake pressure applied to your vehicle. You will get a faster braking response with proportional controllers over the traditional time delay.
The Prodigy P2 is more of an entry level brake controller; easy to use, easy to mount, and it works well. That is probably why it is one of our most popular and highest rated brake controllers. I have also included a link to the installation details for the P2 below.
I also recommend using the Tekonsha Brake controller wiring harness, # TK93VR, over the OEM plug. To install the P2 with the OEM plug you will have to cut and splice the connection between the two harnesses. With the # 3045-P one side will plug into the brake controller and the other end will plug into the Dodge Durango's OEM wiring.
