Helpful Expert Reply:
To transport a single kayak on your 2014 Cadillac ATS, I recommend using a kayak carrier with a roof rack.
A great option for your roof rack would be from Yakima, which consists of the crossbars, roof legs, and fit kit, which are parts # Y00425, # Y28TR, # Y06123.
With a roof rack on, the only other piece you'll need is the Rhino Rack Nautic Roof Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs, # RR570. This is a one-kayak carrier which will fit the aero bars of your roof rack, and includes four saddle-style cradles so you can haul the kayak hull-side down. It also includes a pair of tie-down straps and a set of bow/stern ropes so you can confidently secure your kayak.
