Here is how you can determine if the Yakima SkyBox NX 16 Rooftop Cargo Box, # Y95AV, will fit your 2006 Toyota RAV4 and allow your rear hatch to open. Measure the crossbar spread from center to center on your vehicle's factory crossbars. The cross bars must be between 24 to 36 inches wide to allow the Yakima SkyBox NX 16 to mount to the rack.
To determine if you will have enough clearance to open the rear cargo hatch of your RAV4, a measurement from the center of the front crossbar to the edge line where the hatch and the roof meet. If this measurement is 47 inches or more, then you will be able to open the hatch door with the cargo box mounted on the roof.
