Troubleshooting Drivers Side Rear Tail Light Not Working With New Light Fixtures

Question:
I purchased a Blazer replacement light kit with amber side markers to replace an old system. Followed instructions carefully and am having difficulty getting the drivers side back light to work. All other lights work perfectly including both side amber markers. I even returned to my local store to purchase a single drivers side rear light thinking that I had a non-functioning light. Both the old and new drivers side rear light do not work - no turn signal and no brake light. I have watched the installation video on YouTube and inspected the new wire to the rear of the trailer - no issues. I assume that because the amber side marker is lit on the drivers side, there is no problem with power from the harness After reading though the FAQs on your site - realize the rear lights are self-grounding. Will clean off metal contact and remount the rear light and try again. Anything else that I should try? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance

If cleaning the ground doesn't work, I recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to probe the power wire coming into that light. If you have power, then I recommend running a wire from another ground you know is good to your driver's side light mounting hardware. This will help you determine if it is power or ground that isn't working to complete the circuit.
