Recommended Hitch Reducer to fit an 1-1/4 Inch Shank in a 2 Inch Receiver Hitch
Updated 05/15/2017 | Published 05/13/2017 >
Question:
Would this work with a Pro Series 6500 cargo carrier? The pin hole is 1.5inch from the end of the shank. While not specifically designed for it, this adapter looks like it could slide on and work fine. The cargo carrier has a normal pin with no threads. Also, per one of the other QandAs this an option for the Yakima Kingpin rack. Can you confirm? I have the 2inch replacement shank and could use it, but I use both a 2inch and 1 1/4inch hitch and need to easily be able to back and forth. Using this adapter looks easier than swapping the shank back and forth.

I have a solution for you, but the Yakima # Y8890174 hitch adapter is designed to only fit Yakima hitch products.
I recommend you looking at the Brophy Hitch Reducer # HT02. This product will fit your 2 inch trailer hitch opening and allow you to carry the 1-1/4 shank on your cargo carrier. All you have to do will be to install and remove the sleeve when you are switching between hitch accessories.
